Tuesdays 9.30 – 11.30 a.m.
The Sensory Consortium Service runs fortnightly Pre-School Groups in the East and the West of Berkshire and are part of the programme for your child which includes home visits and pre-school group sessions. All parents are encouraged to attend. Bilingual staff and signing support are available.
Aim: The group is for hearing impaired children, their parents and siblings. While the children play, parents have an opportunity to chat over a cup of coffee to share their experiences and to learn from each other. The children also have the opportunity to see other children with hearing aids.
What do we do:
- Fun activities to encourage language, listening and social skills.
- Daytime and Evening Parent Workshops.
- Regular earmould impressions.
- Special events.
- Healthy snack time.
- Idea sheets.
“I have fun with my friends, we play together and have some fruit too” (child aged 3)
“The Hearing Impaired Pre-School Group is a friendly group for parents and children to meet up. The children have lots of fun with stories, games, songs and crafts and while they’re having fun they’re learning to listen. It’s the only time in my week when I can finish a cup of coffee!”
